Silver hits 30-year high on investment demand

Silver jumped to its highest in three decades on Wednesday after holdings on the exchange-traded fund hit a record, reflecting a steady investment demand.

Spot silver rose as high as $21.83 an ounce, its strongest since September 1980, when it was fixed at $25.

iShares Silver Trust said its holdings rose to a record high of 9,756.04 tonnes by September 28 from 9,613.02 tonnes on September 24. Source: Reuters
