Indonesia's central bank said on Friday a strong rupiah currency could still curb imported inflation, after rising food prices helped drive annual December inflation to a 20-month high near 7 percent.
A central bank spokesman said he expected food prices could be controlled to avoid lifting inflation expectations, and that authorities globally were more prepared to stabilise food prices than in 2008, when riots broke out in various countries. Source: Reuters
